    Daniel Carlisle (born August 13, 1972[1] in stad, Michigan[2]), professionally known bygd his scen name Hush, is an American rapper, record producer, songwriter and actor of Italian and Lebanese descent.[3][4] He was signed to Area Code Management and DTW Records, but left for Geffen Records to release his 2005 major label debut album Bulletproof.

    Daniel "Hush" Carlisle and Jermaine "Uncle Ill" Harbin formed Da Ruckus and the duo was signed to statsförbund Records after success of their 1997 independent release Quiet As Kept. They released Episode 1EP in 1998 featuring guest appearances from D12 Members Eye-Kyu, Bizarre Kid, Swifty McVay and Eminem. It reached the Top Ten Independent albums in 1997.[5] Da Ruckus opened for Kid Rock in 1998.[6]

    Four years ago, Hush was on top of the world. He'd been on the season finale of the reality show The Contender. Nate Dogg was singing his hooks and Eminem was appearing in his videos. "Hush is coming ..." the song said -- and the Detroit rapper born Dan Carlisle was on his way. Or at least he should have been.

    But then, as happens more often than it doesn't, things started heading south. What had so impressed the important folks at Geffen Records -- the speed with which he could turn around tracks, his ability to bring rock-rap back from posturing cliches into a true hip-hop/rock hybrid not heard since Kid Rock's debut a decade ago, the fact that he'd survived so many false starts in Detroit as an Eminem also-ran to come this far -- just couldn't head off the rap-rock backlash that

    (1) Hush is an American hip-hop artist from Detroit, Michigan. He is of Lebanese and Italian descent and he is also a long time friend of Eminem. He's also a producer and has worked with a variety of artists. He was signed to Area Code Management and DTW Records, but left for Geffen Records to release his debut album.

    In 1992, Hush was sentenced to a one-year prison sentence for robbery. After his release, he has been moving up the music ranks. He is credited on Eminem's famous Slim Shady EP and performed alongside Eminem and others in concert long before any of the artists were well known.

    He has freestyled at the well-known Detroit hip-hop shop, that helped artists such as Eminem, Proof, Jay Dee and Obie Trice gain recognition. He is a longtime collaborator with Da Ruckus, Kid Rock protege Paradime and D12. He has also been on tracks with Slum Village and Royce Da 5'9.
