  • Born and raised in Northern Ireland, Grainne Morton moved to Edinburgh to attend Edinburgh College of Art. Her parents own an antique shop, and combined.
  • If Grainne Morton was to have a spirit animal, no doubt it would be the magpie. Instinctively and obsessively drawn to collecting and hoarding anything miniature or precious that catches her eye, many things you or I would overlook, Grainne has amassed an incredible collection of objects – all destined to find their place among the tales she weaves within her jewelled compositions.

    Born and raised in Northern Ireland, by creative and antique-loving parents, Grainne was immersed in and surrounded by the traditional Crafts, Folklore, Music and Fairy Tales of the country. Perhaps it’s this beginning to her story that has now imbued her work with it’s somewhat contradictory nature? All at once vintage and contemporary, precious and non-precious, spontaneous and ordered, junk and treasure… this could well be a description of Grainne’s motherland, itself.

    Who is Grainne Morton?

    Born and raised in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, by creative, antique shop owning parents, Grainne was immersed in and surrounded both by the traditional crafts, folklore, music and fairytales of the country as well as her parents’ enthusiasm and love of collecting.

    She moved to Scotland in the late eighties to study at Edinburgh College of Art and become an avid collector of antiques and ephemera. These collections became, and remain, the inspiration for her work. She later studied in Kilkenny with the Arts Council of Ireland and returned to Edinbur

    6. What are your greatest design influences? 
    I appreciate modern design but my influences have always komma from the past. inom love visiting museums and stately homes that are open to the public.

    7. If you weren’t a jewellery designer, what would you do?
    When I was applying for Art Collage it was with the intention of studying mode as inom have always been interested in clothes and style. I think stylist.

    8. What do you currently listen to in your studio?
    BBC Radio 4 is my default listen to. inom mix it up with podcasts and have been enjoying The Collectors House (5 Carlos Place), Unstyled (Refinery 29), How to Fail with Elizabeth Day and RuPaul: What's The Tee with Michelle Visageto name but a few.

    9. What fryst vatten your dream travel destination?
    At the moment because our business fryst vatten growing so fast travel is difficult. Luckily inom absolutely love what inom do. We show in New York twice a year so I don’t feel deprived. I am looking forward to visiting Jaipur as soon
