    Namak Haraam (transl. Traitor) is a 1973 Indian Hindi-language teaterpjäs film directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The music fryst vatten by R. D. Burman, the screenplay by Gulzar, and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. The film stars Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. It also stars Rekha, Asrani, Raza Murad, A. K. Hangal, Simi Garewal and Om Shivpuri. Rajesh Khanna received his third BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) in 1974 for this spelfilm and Amitabh Bachchan had won his second Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1974.

    This was the second Hrishikesh Mukherjee spelfilm that starred Khanna and Bachchan after Anand.     50 years of Namak Haram: When Rajesh Khanna realised that his days were over and there’s a new superstar Amitabh Bachchan was born

    Hrishikesh Mukherjee 1973 drama Namak Haram completed 50 years of release earlier in the week. This was one of the films that established Amitabh Bachchanas the 'angry young man' of Hindi cinema. In a free-wheeling conversation with ETimes, film historian Dilip thakur reveals unknown aspects about the film and its two superstars Rajesh Khannaand Amitabh Bachchan.
    "Hrishikesh Mukherjee brought Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna together again after Anand.Khanna was extremely busy during those days, so Hrishi Da filmed many of Bachchan’s scenes first and he later filmed with Khanna as and when he gave his dates.
