Stavros Xarchakos was born in Athens, where he studied at the Athens Conservatoire. He has family origins from the Mani Peninsula. He emerged in the Greek music scene around , composing music for the theatre and cinema. Among his collaborators was lyricist Lefteris Papadopoulos and singer Nikos Xylouris.
In he went to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. He stayed in Paris for four years, and then studied with David Diamond at the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He served as director of the National Orchestra of Greek Music.[1]

Stavros Xarchakos is one of the pioneers of the Spring in the Greek artistic and popular music of the 60s and since then his songs hold a special place in the hearts of the Greeks .
He was born in Exarchia, Athens, on March 14, His parents were also born there and his family’s house was on Themistokleous Street. Growing up, he studied music at the Athens Conservatory and then continued his studies in Paris and at the Juilliard School of Music, in New York. He has written songs on more than 42 albums, music for 21 movies and 15 television productions. He has also composed music for ancient tragedy, dramas, and international ballets.
At the beginning of his career, Stavros Xarchakos writes music mainly for theater and cinema and so he has distinguished himself as a composer of cinematographic and theatrical music.
