    Keratinous Materials as Novel Absorbent Systems for Toxic Pollutants
    A range of hazardous organic and inorganic compounds, and metal ions generated by human and industrialactivities leads to serious concerns for environments. Adsorption technologies based on polymeric materials are beingused to remove toxic substances from air and wastewater streams. Keratin protein, found abundantly in sheep’s wool,human hair and bird feathers, is an interesting and potentially useful renewable biopolymer. It contains a variety offunctional groups on the backbone and side chains of the proteins, and is an ideal component to fabricate a rangeof novel adsorbent systems for separation of toxic pollutants

    ARUN K GHOSH (PhD, Physics, Calcutta University, Postdoctoral Fellow, Rice University, Houston, Texas). He served as the Head, Instrumentation Centre, University of Kalyani; Principal, Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology, Berhampur; and Principal, Bengal College of Engineering and Technology, Durgapur.

    A distinguished teacher, Professor Ghosh has over 26 years of teaching experience and has published 35 research papper in journals of national and international repute.

    RUMI GHOSH(BE, Computer Science & Technology, IIEST Shibpur, recipient of Merit Scholarship, Alumni Association Medal, Board of Governors Prize; MS and PhD, Computer Engineering, University of California, Santa Cruz) worked in C-DOT (India) and then in renowned Silicon Valley companies like Dell, Cisco and Juniper. She has several publications in reputed international conferences in Computer Networking. Her current interests include Cyber-Security and AI/ML. IE
